The Police Department currently consists of 39 Sworn and non sworn personnel, 22 of whom are full time sworn officers, 9 part time sworn officers. The Department structure for sworn personnel includes the Chief of Police, Deputy Chief, 1 Commander, 1 Lieutenant, 3 Sergeants, 2 Detectives, 2 Tactical Units and 12 patrol officers. The Communication Center has 5 full time Radio operators and 1 full-time Supervisor, Records has 2 civilian personnel.

Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for investigating all major crimes such as homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, arson, and kidnapping. Additionally, the division investigates other crimes that require specialized training or expertise, such as drug violations, vice crimes, forgery and fraud investigations. The Patrol Unit is charged with the primary responsibility for all law enforcement activities within the community. The Patrol Unit’s mission is to preserve the peace, protect life and property against the effects of criminal activity and to ensure the safety of the motoring public by enforcing all traffic laws. The uniformed police officers are the most visible and readily identifiable representatives of the Village of Stone Park. They represent the Police Department’s first responders to emergency and non-emergency situations 24-hours a day.
The Code Enforcement Unit is responsible for the inspection of publicly and privately owned residential buildings to assure that they meet the Minimum Housing Standards for the Village of Stone Park and to ensure safe and sanitary living conditions for all residents within the village limits. Communication Center is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our Communication center answers all non-emergency phone calls to the Police Department as well as emergency phone calls to the Police and Fire Department, including E-911. We also answer emergency calls for Public Works and Water Departments after regular hours. Our Communication Center is currently staffed by 6 full-time operators and 1 full-time Supervisor. The Juvenile Unit is charged with the responsibility of addressing the complex issues of juvenile crime and victimization. Investigators in this unit work in partnership with families, schools, social service agencies, and the courts to protect and assist our youth. The Public Safety Unit serves to augment the regular police force in the event of a civil preparedness emergency. The Public Safety Unit provides extra eyes and ears for the Department. They are trained to observe and report conditions requiring the services of the regular police members. Wherever possible, they assist in non-enforcement and non-hazardous duties. The Traffic Division Department places a high priority on traffic management recognizing that traffic/residential speeding is one of the greatest concerns of our residents. The Bike Patrol is a valuable resource that is in effect in the Summer months. It allows access to areas not previously accessible by the conventional police cruiser. The bicycle patrol unit also increases communication between our officers and the citizens they encounter during their patrol.
